‘Wicked’ to reopen at the Gershwin Theatre on Sept. 14
The long-running musical will make its return to the stage when Broadway comes back in the fall.
Elphaba is ready to defy gravity once again. Wicked has set its reopening date on Broadway. The blockbuster musical about the witches of Oz will restart performances at the Gershwin Theatre on Sept. 14. Find out more about Wicked on Broadway tickets here.
The fan-favorite musical follows the witches of Oz before Dorothy dropped in and explores their unlikely friendship and the political and societal forces that throw them into their archetypical roles. Directed by Joe Mantello, the musical features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The musical originally opened on Broadway in 2003.
Casting will be announced at a later date. Before the shutdown, the Wicked cast featured Lindsay Pearce (as Elphaba), Ginna Claire Mason (as Glinda), Sam Gravitte (as Fiyero), Alexandra Billings (as Madame Morrible), Michael McCormick (as The Wizard), Riley Costello (as Boq), Shoba Narayan (as Nessarose), and Michael X. Martin (as Doctor Dillamond).
