'Camp Siegfried' sets Off-Broadway cast at Second Stage Theater
Bess Wohl's play will make its New York debut this fall.
UPDATE: Johnny Berchtold will star in Camp Siegfried, replacing Sawyer Barth, who is now unable to participate due to scheduling conflicts
Second Stage Theater has set its cast for Camp Siegfried, a new play by Tony Award nominee Bess Wohl going up in the fall. Performances begin at the Tony Kiser Theater October 25 ahead of a November 15 opening.
The two-person cast includes Sawyer Barth and Lily McInerny, both making their Off-Broadway debuts with Camp Siegfried. Barth has appeared in The Kids Are Alright on ABC, and McInerny will appear in the upcoming Hulu series Tell Me Lies.
Jane Ackermann and Charlie B. Foster are also in the cast as understudies.
The full creative team has also been set, with scenic designer Brett Banakis, costume designer Brenda Abbandandolo, lighting designer Tyler Micoleau, and sound designer Christopher Darbassie.
Camp Siegfried centers on two teenagers at summer camp on Long Island. But it's just before World War II, and the title camp is designed to indoctrinate them into Nazism. As the innocent teenagers fall in love, they might also be falling for extremism without realizing it. Prior to the debut of Camp Siegfried in New York, the show premiered to acclaim in London.
Wohl is also known for Grand Horizons, which ran on Broadway with Second Stage in 2020 and earned a Tony nomination for Best Play.
