Lana Gordon, Ryan Silverman, Brenda Braxton return to 'Chicago' Broadway cast
The new cast members will assume their roles April 12.
They're bringing the old razzle dazzle! Three returning cast members will step into the principal roles of Chicago on Broadway. They join the previously announced Pamela Anderson as Roxie Hart, who will perform for eight weeks beginning April 12.
Lana Gordon (recently seen as Persephone in Hadestown) and Ryan Silverman will return to the roles of Velma Kelly and Billy Flynn, respectively. Gordon has played Velma four times before between 2016 and 2019, and Silverman has played Billy six other times between 2014 and 2019. They take over on April 12 for for Amra-Faye Wright and Tom Hewitt, respectively, who play their final performances April 10.
In addition, Tony nominee Brenda Braxton has now assumed the role of Matron "Mama" Morton. She had previously played the role of Velma for eight engagements between 2003 and 2008.
Chicago sets a story of crime and scandal to "all that jazz," focusing on two murderesses who vie for the attention of the sensational media and a slick lawyer in the hopes of getting off scot-free. Chicago premiered on Broadway in 1975 and its first revival premiered in 1996. That production is the one running at the Ambassador Theatre today, making it the longest-running revival and second-longest-running Broadway show.
