Actor, writer, and former correspondent for The Daily Show, Aasif Mandvi revisits his acclaimed, Obie Award-winning one-man show, twenty years after its celebrated debut in New York City. Azgi, a good-natured and excitable young man, is a recent immigrant from India with grand hopes for life in the United States. Through his job as a waiter at Sakina’s Restaurant, we meet a colorful cast of characters, including restaurant owner Hakim, his wife Farrida, and their children Sakina and Samir. A vibrantly funny and touching story about identity, home, and opportunity, "Sakina’s Restaurant" casts new light on the idea of the American dream and is a perfect vehicle for the dexterous and charming Mandvi.
