About Mrs. Doubtfire

Mrs. Doubtfire reopens at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Broadway! Get your Mrs. Doubtfire tickets today.

Based on the 1987 novel Alias Madame Doubtfire by Anne Fine, the beloved 1993 movie "Mrs. Doubtfire" has remained closely cherished in the hearts of cinema fans across the globe, thanks largely to the performance of the late great Robin Williams as Daniel Hillard and the titular nanny.

The film was a box office smash as the highest-grossing comedy of 1993, earning over $440 million in global sales, and also took home the Golden Globe in January 1994 in the category of "Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy." In addition, and deservedly so, Mr. Williams also won the Golden Globe for "Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy." His supporting cast also included Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan, and Broadway favorite Harvey Fierstein.

This new Broadway musical adaptation, under the direction of veteran four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, boasts a writing team with a proven track record in musical comedy. John O'Farrell and Karey & Wayne Kirkpatrick previously brought the laughs to the Great White Way with Something Rotten! which earned an anything but rotten total of 10 Tony Award nominations in 2015. Euphegenia Doubtfire is in good hands.

Stepping into the bloomers to originate the titular role is Rob McClure, who is no stranger to re-imagining iconic characters for the stage. Indeed, his portrayal of Charlie Chaplin earned him his Tony nomination in 2013 and he has previously collaborated with the writers on Something Rotten! and starred in such Broadway hits as Beetlejuice and Avenue Q to boot. Further casting included Jenn Gambatese (as Miranda Hillard), Brad Oscar (as Frank Hillard), Analise Scarpaci (as Lydia Hillard), Jake Ryan Flynn (as Christopher Hillard), Avery Sell (as Natalie Hillard), J. Harrison Ghee (as Andre), Mark Evans (as Stuart Dunmeyer), Charity Angél Dawson (as Wanda Sellner), and Peter Bartlett (as Mr. Jolly)

The pre-Broadway world premiere engagement was staged at Seattle's prestigious 5th Avenue Theatre from November 26 - December 29, 2019. There were three performances of Mrs. Doubtfire from March 9 - 11, 2020 before performances were forced to stop. Now, Mrs Doubtfire returns from October 2021.

So, if you're feeling the blues and you're in need of some cheering up, then "Help is on the way, dears!" thanks to Mrs. Doubtfire!

More information about Mrs. Doubtfire

Fix your wig and slip on this pantyhose, dear, ‘cause Mrs. Doubtfire is strutting to the stage! Based on the beloved 1993 Twentieth Century Fox film, Mrs. Doubtfire is the laugh-out-loud hilarious and heartfelt story of newly divorced and out-of-work actor Daniel Hillard. After losing custody of his children, Daniel disguises himself as Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire and takes a job in his ex-wife’s home in a desperate attempt to stay in their lives. As he gets lost in his new persona and grows closer to his kids, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father.
