About Girl from the North Country

Girl from the North Country reopens at the Belasco Theatre on Broadway from October 13. Find out more about Girl from the North Country tickets on Broadway.

The Broadway cast recording of Girl From the North Country is also now available. The cast recording was recorded in March 2020, days before all Broadway theatres were forced to shut due to the pandemic.

Get ready for perhaps the most unique 'jukebox' musical experience to have ever graced the Great White Way, folks. Although Irish playwright Conor McPherson's Girl from the North Country showcases around twenty classic songs by music legend Bob Dylan, the gently gripping and original story follows a gathering of diverse characters in Duluth, Minnesota in 1934 amidst the harrowing effects of the Great Depression. Duluth is, of course, Bob Dylan's hometown and fans will be anything but depressed after hearing the talented cast's renditions of his hits, beautifully orchestrated and arranged by Simon Hale, including "Like A Rolling Stone," "Make You Feel My Love," "Hurricane," and "Forever Young," just to name a few.

Cast members also play instruments from the 1930s live on stage, adding to the unique nature of this musical masterpiece.

Girl from the North Country originally premiered at London's Old Vic in July 2017 to great critical acclaim and was instantly granted a West End transfer to the Noel Coward Theatre for a 12-week limited engagement from December 2017. The production received a total of five Olivier Award nominations in 2018, including 'Best New Musical.' It was only a matter of time before this American-centric tuner would receive its New York premiere, enjoying an acclaimed run at The Public Theater in the fall of 2018.

Since then, Girl from the North Country has staged its Canadian premiere in Toronto in the fall of 2019 and a special return engagement in London's West End, this time at the Gielgud Theatre. It has been a long and winding road to Broadway, but the wait is over for Bob Dylan fans to finally experience this heart-wrenching and altogether human tale told on the Great White Way.
