Three American composers who represent the multiple voices of American life today. Experience Pulitzer Prize—winner Anthony Davis’s personal depiction of an unjust encounter with the police in You Have the Right To Remain Silent. Principal Clarinet Anthony McGill is the soloist as the Orchestra “interrogates” him, even reading the Miranda warning in rhythmic spoken word. Opening the program is a leading composer of her generation, Missy Mazzoli, who creates a solar system of sound with her Sinfonia (for Orbiting Spheres). The evening ends with John Adams’s Chamber Symphony, a virtuosic orchestral showcase with an exhilarating spirit of adventure and experimentation. Dalia Stasevska conducts.
