Epiphany is a new play by Brian Watkins which marks his Lincoln Center Theater debut. Get Epiphany tickets on New York Theatre Guide.
Epiphany is a play set at a dinner party on one snowy evening. Old friends gather at the house of the host, who is hoping to revive an old and forgotten tradition. Mysteriously absent from the proceedings is the guest of honor, and no one knows why. Not even a feast of wine and goose can satisfy their appetite for answers, and the party quickly becomes unmoored as the unknown haunts them, forcing them to confront even more questions they've long avoided.
Watkins was previously represented in New York with the play My Daughter Keeps Her Hammer, about two sisters who feel trapped while caring for their ailing mother. The show went up at the Flea Theater in 2014 to acclaim. In addition, his plays Evergreens and Into The Earth With You premiered at The Juilliard School, and A Scavenge went up at the prestigious Williamstown Theatre Festival. Abroad, his play High Plains went up at the Underbelly Festival in Edinburgh in Scotland, and Wyoming premiered at Druid Theatre in Ireland. Druid is also where Epiphany had its world premiere, and now Watkins makes his Lincoln Center debut with Epiphany off Broadway.
He's joined by Tyne Rafaeli as director, a Drama Desk nominee for helming Ming Pfeiffer's Usual Girls at Roundabout Theatre Company. Rafaeli was recently represented off Broadway with Selling Kabul at Playwrights Horizons in fall 2021, where she had previously directed I Was Most Alive With You to critical acclaim. She is now making her Newhouse debut after directing Power Strip at another of Lincoln Center Theater's venues, the Claire Tow Theater.

An uncanny evening. Snow falls softly. An eager host gathers old friends to try and resuscitate a forgotten tradition. But when the guest of honor is unusually late, the group becomes unmoored, craving answers. And there might not be enough wine, or goose, or time to fend off the long-neglected questions that now haunt their souls…
