About Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance

Join Transport Group and NAATCO as they present a historic production of Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance.

In Edward Albee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama A Delicate Balance, Agnes (Mia Katigbak) and Tobias (Manu Narayan) are a complacent middle-aged couple with a hanger-on of a house guest—Agnes’ alcoholic sister Claire (Carmen M. Herlihy). But when longtime friends Harry (Paul Juhn) and Edna (Rita Wolf) appear on their doorstep claiming a nameless “fear” has forced them from their home coincides with their four-times divorced daughter Julia’s (Tina Chilip) moving home, their daily balance is shattered. As Agnes and Tobias attempt to regain control, one wonders if that is even still possible.

Directed by Jack Cummings III, this will be the first time A Delicate Balance will be performed Off-Broadway, as well as the first production to feature a full cast of Asian American actors.

Exquisite, Funny, Desperate, Tragic, Profound

See it if Theater of the absurd meets family drama. A deep, witty, surprising, very dark comedy. Eloquent writing and good ensemble acting.

Don’t see it if You don’t enjoy long, slowly developing plays, existential crisis, or ugly characters who hate themselves & each other. Horrid? But so good.

See it if This is a riveting heavy important play w complex characters in difficult relationships, played by a whole cast of talented Asian Americans.

Don’t see it if Yes,the play is long but what can you cut off from a work of art?Seriously. U saw&didn't like as I did the 1973 film with Katherine Hepburn.

Intense, Slow, Great acting, Great staging, Great writing

See it if you enjoy the masterful writing of Albee, here with a good cast on a great, and very different, stage at the Connelly Theater. Costumes+.

Don’t see it if you do not like intense drama. Sometimes when speaking away from where the audience is seated it is difficult to hear the actors.

Intelligent, Great writing, Resonant, Relevant, Absorbing

See it if This show written in the sixties was so topical and relevant. Lots to think about. Smart show, for people who want to listen.

Don’t see it if It's wordy and all the the characters are unpleasant but so carefully wrought! Great performances. Supremely clever.
