Brooklyn-based comedian Sam Morrison makes his Off-Broadway debut with Sugar Daddy, his critically acclaimed solo show from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Get Sugar Daddy tickets on New York Theatre Guide.
Sugar Daddy is a comedy show, but Morrison uses humor to discuss grief, seamlessly blending comedy with tragedy. The show traces his relationship with his partner Jonathan, from their first meeting in Provincetown, Massachusetts to the deepening of their relationship in quarantine to Jonathan's sudden death from Covid-19. Morrison turned to comedy to cope, and the result is Sugar Daddy, which deals with coincidences, seagull attacks, love, loss, and resilience.
Sugar Daddy is the follow-up to Morrison's first solo show, Hello, Daddy! Both premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland — in 2019 and 2022, respectively — where they received rave reviews. He was also a writer on season 1 of the Bravo show Blind Date; he wrote 64 episodes including the pilot, "Daddy."
Morrison has appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show and live at The Stand Up NBC Finals, The Tonight Show Showcase, RuPaul's DragCon, Laughing Skull Festival, and the New York Comedy Festival, which named him Best of New Talent. He also frequently performs at comedy venues in Brooklyn and hosts Queerotica, a showcase for queer comedians, at the Strand bookstore.
Sugar Daddy off Broadway plays the SoHo Playhouse, which has hosted other acclaimed comedy shows like Fleabag (by Phoebe Waller-Bridge) and Just For Us (by Alex Edelman) in recent years.

There simply isn't enough hyperbole.” (Broadway World) “…one of the most powerful and fearless hours of comedy you’ll see” (Broadway Baby) “Sam Morrison is a star.” (Voice Mag) “…practically the perfect super-gay comic” (The Scotsman)
