Hell is empty, and all the devils are on the DR2 Theatre stage in Patrick Page's new solo show, All the Devils Are Here: How Shakespeare Invented the Villain. Get All the Devils Are Here tickets on New York Theatre Guide.
Page is no stranger to stage villainy: Leading up to his Tony Award-nominated portrayal of Hades in Hadestown, he's played Scar in The Lion King, the Green Goblin in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and more. Now, he inhabits more than a dozen villains in one 80-minute, tour-de-force show.
In All the Devils Are Here off Broadway, Page plays characters like Macbeth, Iago, and Richard III, exploring how they inspired literary villains as we know them today. At the same time, he investigates something perhaps scarier: what these villains reveal about the dark side of our own human nature.
The Shakespeare Theatre Company in D.C. premiered Page's show digitally in 2021, and the production was a New York Times Critic's Pick. Simon Godwin, STC's artistic director, now directs All the Devils Are Here in New York. Godwin is a renowned classical director, known for staging Shakespearean plays in both the U.S. and London.
