A world premiere from an exciting new voice, What Became of Us off Broadway follows a brother and a sister, one born here, and one born there. How do they maintain a connection to this country, and to the Old Country? More importantly, how do they maintain a relationship with each other?

Directed by Jennifer Chang (The Far Country at Berkeley Rep), this play marks the highly anticipated off-Broadway debut of MacDowell fellow Shayan Lofti, and the show’s double-casting is in line with his vision for this special piece. In a statement, he said, “My intention for What Became of Us has always been that the roles would alternate between separate pairings of actors from different diasporic backgrounds. I am thrilled that Atlantic has supported this by bringing together this remarkable cast.”

Atlantic has set dates for each of the pairs of actors, so audiences will know who is performing on each given night. Running for a limited engagement, the play promises audiences the chance to see Hollywood talent tackle meaty roles that dive into assimilation, immigration, and the ever-changing concept of home.
