Fiasco Theater's Pericles Tickets

Fiasco Theater, a company known for bold, risk-taking productions of beloved works (including a stripped-back, critically acclaimed Into the Woods in 2015), presents Pericles off Broadway at Classic Stage Company, which champions a similar mission at its theatre in Union Square. The pair make natural co-producers for this production, which is directed by Fiasco co-artistic director Ben Steinfeld.

What is Pericles about?

Pericles was an actual Greek public figure during the 400s BC, but the Pericles play is an entirely fictional story whose title character just happens to have the same name. Shakespeare’s Pericles finds himself on the run for his life after he discovers his would-be fiancée is already in a relationship with her father.

As he journeys across the Mediterranean in search of safety and a fresh start, he encounters wicked rulers, new romances, gods in disguise, and plenty of pirates. The setup of Classic Stage Company’s intimate theatre, with seats on three sides of the stage, will make audiences feel like they, too, are getting swept up in all of Pericles’s capers.

Pericles has not had a major Off-Broadway production since 1998, when The Public Theater presented the show, making now a rare chance to catch one of Shakespeare’s more hidden gems. Get tickets to Pericles in New York now.
