Pirnot challenges traditional theatrical norms with I Love You So Much I Could Die, blending concert elements with state-of-the-art technology and classic storytelling. On stage, Pirnot explores the personal and private of the human experience, using monologues spoken by Microsoft's computerized text-to-speech tool while she plays live music facing away from the audience.
Based in NYC, playwright and songwriter Pirnot previously wrote Private and Offshore Clinical Trials, and received support from Playwrights Horizons, New York Theatre Workshop, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and Williamstown Theatre Festival. Notably, she received the 2022 Berwin Lee & Brown Playwrights Award and earned a 2023 Helen Hayes / Charles MacArthur Award nomination. She is also an NYTW Usual Suspect, a member of the theatre’s program that offers a community of artists opportunities to develop new work, experiment, and learn with other artists.
Lucas Hnath, originally from Orlando, Florida, transitioned from pre-med studies to dramatic writing at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Known for the Best Play Tony Award nominee A Doll's House, Part 2, Hnath boasts an extensive Broadway and Off-Broadway repertoire, including works like Hilary and Clinton, Dana H., The Christians, and Red Speedo, earning him various awards and nominations, such as an Obie Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
Pirnot and Hnath’s collaboration on I Love You So Much I Could Die off Broadway marks their first professional project together. The couple, who met at New York Theatre Workshop and described falling in love there, now bring their work back to the Off-Broadway incubator where it all began.
