The play by Roman Freud, directed by Gera Sandler, is a rethinking of Tolstoy's story of Anna Karenina by contemporary artists. Rethinking, sometimes turning into a dispute. The characters and situations of Tolstoy's novel are so natural and real that they allow us to view the novel from any point of view without losing the authenticity of the narrative.
Alexey Alexandrovich Karenin, a statesman, a professional, a reformer who truly cares about the fate of his homeland. An unexpected cataclysm in his personal life destroys the usual order of things and the scale of values. The hero is forced to reconsider his views and look inside his soul for the first time, to be reborn and become different - sincere, real, sensitive.
But is such a person allowed to exist in the world of brilliant St. Petersburg society? Is he becoming torn between his sincere feelings and powerful public opinion?
