Experience Empire off Broadway. Spanning dynamic eras of New York City from the Roaring Twenties to the Bicentennial in 1976, this original tale follows three generations of dreamers and doers. Amidst a city desperate for a beacon of hope, Empire explores the relentless determination of real New Yorkers that propelled this monumental project skyward. Through dazzling choreography, toe-tapping music, and vivid characters, experience the exhilarating adventures of Mohawk Skywalkers, visionary industrialists, and resilient immigrants who dared to rise when others fell. Go inside the enduring spirit that shaped a landmark still revered today, visited by millions from around the world.

The Empire State Building, a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper in the Midtown South neighborhood of Manhattan, has captivated viewers for nearly a century. Completed in 1930, at the end of the Jazz Age, the building has become one of the United State’s most iconic buildings and an undeniable symbol of the Big Apple. While many recognize the building, not everyone knows its backstory: in this riveting musical, learn about the immigrants and indigenous Americans who put their lives on the line to erect this beloved architectural feat.

Cady Huffman wowed audiences as blonde bombshell Ulla in The Producers; she won a Tony Award for that role and was also a nominee for The Will Rogers Follies. Now, she directs a new off-Broadway musical about the vitality and resilience of her great city that so many call home.

This musical runs for a limited time this summer and fall at New World Stages. Tickets to Empire are available now.
