In The Brothers Size, winner of the Paula Vogel Playwriting Award and now celebrating its twentieth anniversary, Ogun embodies hard work and reliability and his younger brother, Oshoosi, is more carefree and unpredictable. After Oshoosi is released from prison, the brothers reunite but have their relationship tested anew when a charismatic figure, Elegba, temps Oshoosi back into his hold habits.
A stirring fable that weaves in the rich tradition of the Yoruba people of West Africa, this play offers a singular look at masculinity and family as the brothers wrestle with freedom and duty. The Brothers Size shares a raw and heartfelt ode to the complexity of brotherhood. Set in the Deep South, the play is a timeless story of resilience.
