A week before the High Holidays, three rabbis gather with a family in a room that becomes a crucible for the widening gap between orthodoxy and modernity. To save the straining family, the rabbis attempt to open up conversations that unearth ideological differences and rare perspectives — including one from Chava, a trans rabbi.

The child of a dynastic Hasidic rabbinical family and born to become a leader of the next generation, Chava was quickly isolated due to her identity, which fiercely clashed with the strictly gendered world in which she was raised. Becoming Eve jumps through time, memory, and deep conversations as truths and secrets surface that ensure no one will read the old stories the same way again.

Abby Chava Stein was the first openly transgender woman raised in a Hasidic community, and she is a direct descendant of Hasidic Judaism's founder, the Baal Shem Tov.
