'A Bright New Boise' sets Off-Broadway cast and creative team

The show opens in February.

Signature Theatre has named the full cast and creative team for A Bright New Boise by Samuel D. Hunter. Performances of his critically acclaimed play run from January 31 to March 12, with an opening night on February 21.

The complete A Bright New Boise cast includes Anna Baryshnikov as Anna, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio as Alex, Eva Kaminsky as Pauline, Peter Mark Kendall as Will, and Angus O'Brien as Leroy.

The creative team includes director Oliver Butler, set designer Wilson Chin, costume designer April M. Hickman, lighting designer Jen Schriever, sound designer Christopher Darbassie, and projection and video designer Stefania Bulbarella.

A Bright New Boise takes place at a Boise, Idaho Hobby Lobby, where the staff's normal routine is disrupted by the arrival of new employee Will. They get swept up in his quest to escape his tragedy-stricken past and figure out where his troubled faith fits into the new future he's creating for himself.

In 2022, Signature mounted Hunter's A Case for the Existence of God, which received widespread critical acclaim. New York Theatre Guide called Hunter's writing "deeply compassionate [and] quietly remarkable."
