She's livin' it up on top! Allison Russell will make her Broadway debut in Hadestown this fall, beginning performances on November 12 at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

Russell is best known for her critically acclaimed Americana and roots albums Outside Child and The Returner, and for winning the Grammy for Best American Roots Performance for the song “Eve Was Black.”

In Hadestown, she will replace Grammy nominee Yola in the role of Persephone. Yola plays her final performance on October 20, and Lana Gordon will step into the role from October 22 to November 10.

The Hadestown Broadway cast also includes Jordan Fisher as Orpheus, Stephanie Mills as Hermes, Phillip Boykin as Hades, Maia Reficco as Eurydice, and Belen Moyano, Jessie Shelton, and Brit West as the Fates.

Winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Anaïs Mitchell’s Hadestown reimagines Greek mythology with folk and jazz music. When Orpheus loses his lover Eurydice as she goes down to the hellish Hadestown, he takes a dangerous journey to the underworld to rescue her.
