Manhattan Theatre Club and Signature Theatre have set the complete cast for their co-production of Bad Kreyol off Broadway, a new play by Dominique Morisseau. Performances will run from October 8 to December 1 at the Pershing Square Signature Center, with an official opening night to be announced.

The complete Bad Kreyol cast includes Pascale Armand as Gigi, Fedna Jacquet as Lovelie, Andy Lucien as Thomas, Kelly McCreary as Simone, and Jude Tibeau as Pita.

Under the direction of Tiffany Nichole Greene, Bad Kreyol follows Haitian American Simone as she reconnects with her Haitian-born cousin Gigi at their dying grandmother's request. Their meeting forces them to confront their differing worldviews and relationships with the land where their ancestors were raised.

Bad Kreyol marks Morisseau's return to Manhattan Theatre Club following its critically acclaimed, Tony Award-nominated production of her play Skeleton Crew. It also marks the end of Morisseau's residency as a playwright with Signature Theatre; her plays Sunset Baby, Confederates, and Paradise Blue have all appeared there in recent years.

"My residency with Signature has given me such a gift as a playwright that I'm only realizing as it comes to an end how much comfort it has provided me," Morisseau said in a statement. "For the past five to seven years of my life (thank you, pandemic), I have not known the angst that many of us playwrights are familiar with, that unsettled feeling of not knowing where the play you have written will be produced, if anywhere. I forgot what it has meant to be without a theater home, with no brick and mortar to call yours as a playwright.

"I have been privileged and very fortunate to have the peace of mind that the work I'm creating will not go into the abyss, that there is a whole community ready to welcome my new pages and prepare them for the stage."
