Ben Levi Ross, Zachary Noah Piser, Sam Primack to star in 'Dear Evan Hansen' on Broadway
Current lead Jordan Fisher will depart the production on February 20.
Sincerely, Ben, Zachary, and Sam! Multiple new cast members have been named for Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway, including the next three stars in the titular role and the first Black actress to play the role of Zoe Murphy.
After Jordan Fisher plays his final performance as Evan on February 20, current Evan alternate Zachary Noah Piser will share the role with multiple other understudies through March 20. Ben Levi Ross will then assume the role. Ross originated the role of Evan in the U.S. national tour of Dear Evan Hansen and has understudied the role on Broadway.
After Ross, Piser will return to the role of Evan full-time, making him the first Asian actor to do so. Finally, Sam Primack will take over the role in the summer, after serving as the Evan alternate on tour and an understudy for the role on Broadway.
In addition, Talia Simone Robinson will assume the role of Zoe Murphy beginning May 3, becoming the first Black actress to do so. Robinson currently understudies the roles of Zoe and Alana on Broadway. The current Zoe, Gabrielle Carrubba, will play her final performance May 1.
In Dear Evan Hansen, a lonely, anxious teenager who gets caught up in a tricky lie in an attempt to connect with his peers, but also starts a viral movement for acceptance in the process. The six-time Tony-winning musical features a book by Steven Levenson and music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Dear Evan Hansen has played the Music Box Theatre since 2016.
