Casey Cott to star in 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical'

The Riverdale star will join the cast in August alongside the previously announced Courtney Reed, following the departure of Derek Klena and Joanna "JoJo" Levesque.

UPDATE: Casey Cott has extended his run in Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway by two months. He will now play Christian through February 4, 2024.

So ex-ci-ting! Casey Cott will join the cast of Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on August 1.

Cott is best known for starring as Kevin Keller on the hit CW series Riverdale. His other screen appearances include Law & Order: SVU, Katy Keene, Asking For It, and All the Little Things We Kill.

He and the previously announced Courtney Reed replace Derek Klena and Joanna "JoJo" Levesque in the leads role of Christian and Satine, respectively. They will join continuing cast members Eric Anderson as Harold Zidler, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as The Duke of Monroth, Ricky Rojas as Santiago, Sophie Carmen-Jones as Nini, and Oyoyo Joi as the Satine alternate.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical, based on Baz Luhrmann's Oscar-winning 2001 film, follows the star-crossed romance between the writer Christian and courtesan Satine at the title Parisian nightclub. Their story is set to more than 40 pop hits, including favorites from the movie like "Your Song" and more recent chart-toppers from Lady Gaga, Adele, and many more.
