Celebrate Good Times (Macbeth) at the West End Theatre

Theater Faction presents Celebrate Good Times (MacBeth), by Yuval Sharon, opening at the West End Theatre on the 3 Jun 2006, following previews from the 1 Jun and running through to the 11 Jun 2006.

Celebrate Good Times (MacBeth): Expands on the single scene of Macbeths grotesque banquet celebrating successful assassination (III.4). The superficial pageantry of the banquet will be elaborated in full detail, while earlier scenes flash before Macbeth as if in a hallucination. The production will include opera (selections from Verdis Macbeth), pop ballads, a rock band, electronica, avant-garde oboe, and even a Bollywood dance number.

I think of this production as a cabaret noir: because no banquet could possibly be complete without entertainment, all of the guests at dinner entertain their hosts over the course of the meal, says writer and director, Yuval Sharon. So we have opera singers, dancers, piano players, and a rock band creating an evenings entertainment, which should strike us as all the more macabre for it beingessentiallythe celebration of a murder spree. This production takes a careful look at the guests at the banquet table; they are all complicit in the murder of Banquo, and will (literally) partake of the witches brew as its served out as soup.

The cast for Celebrate Good Times (MacBeth), directed by Yuval Sharon, features Jeff Meanza as Macbeth, Cara Consilvio as Lady Macbeth, and Victor Clark, Nicole DAmico, Jonathan Day, Matthew Doers, Cherry Duke, Jef Evans, Sarah Fraunfelder, Tyler Hollinger, Adriane Lee, Beverly Love, Greg Marcel, Mark Moorman, Michael Mullin, Rajika Puri, Matt Sullivan, Sarah Tucker, Jonathan Whittle-Utter, and Nadine Zygaj.

The show has set design by Rich Murray, costumes by Jessica Watters and lighting by Ben Kato.
