Ella Beatty to join 'Appropriate' Broadway cast
Beatty will assume the role currently played by Elle Fanning when the play moves from its current home, the Hayes Theater, to the Belasco Theatre in March.
Welcome to the family! Ella Beatty will join the cast of Appropriate on Broadway from March 25 at the Belasco Theatre.
Beatty is known for her role as Kerry O'Shea in the FX series Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, and she is also set to star in the upcoming A24 film If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Appropriate marks Beatty's Broadway debut.
She will join the production in the role of River, currently played by Emmy Award nominee Elle Fanning at the Hayes Theater. Appropriate is set to close its critically acclaimed run at the Hayes on March 3 before reopening at the Belasco.
As previously announced, the rest of the current cast will transfer with the production. They include Sarah Paulson as Toni, Corey Stoll as Bo, Natalie Gold as Rachael, Michael Esper as Franz, Alyssa Emily Marvin as Cassie, Graham Campbell as Rhys, and Lincoln Cohen and Everett Sobers as Ainsley.
Appropriate, written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Lila Neugebauer, follows the exploding tensions among family members who reunite to settle their father's estate — and unearth disturbing secrets in the process.
New York Theatre Guide's five-star review reads, "Appropriate, which first bowed off Broadway in 2014, has all the hallmarks of a great American drama — and then some."
