Emmy Rossum, Zoë Winters to star in 'Walden' off Broadway
Playwright Amy Berryman's New York-premiere drama will have a limited engagement at Second Stage Theater's Tony Kiser Theater beginning in October.
UPDATE: Motell Foster will join Emmy Rossum and Zoë Winters in Walden, playing the role of Bryan.
Golden Globe nominee Emmy Rossum and SAG Award winner Zoë Winters will lead Walden off Broadway, a New York-premiere play by Amy Berryman. Performances begin on October 16 ahead of a November 7 opening at the Tony Kiser Theater.
Rossum is best known for playing Fiona Gallagher on Shameless and for her Golden Globe-nominated performance as Christine in the film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera.
Winters is known for playing Kerry on the Emmy Award-winning drama Succession, for which she and the cast won the 2024 SAG Award for Best Drama Ensemble. She also earned a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for her Off-Broadway performance in Heroes of the Fourth Turning.
On the creative side, Walden will feature scenic design by Matt Saunders, costume design by Qween Jean, lighting design by Adam Honoré, and sound design by Lee Kinney. As previously announced, Tony nominee Whitney White will direct.
Walden follows ex-astronaut Stella (Rossum) and her fiancé, Bryan, as they await the arrival of Stella's estranged sister Cassie (Winters), an active NASA scientist, at their remote cabin. When the sisters reunite, they must face their past and decide whether their future lies on Earth or in space.
The role of Bryan has yet to be cast.
