Gary Gulman to premiere comedy show 'Grandiloquent' off Broadway
The comedian will make his Off-Broadway debut with this solo show for a limited monthlong run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre beginning in January.
Comedian Gary Gulman will make his Off-Broadway debut with a new solo comedy show, Grandiloquent, for a monthlong run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre this winter. Performances run from January 7 to February 8, and opening night is January 19.
Gulman is known for co-starring with Amy Schumer on the Hulu series Life and Beth and for his five stand-up comedy specials including The Great Depresh and It's About Time. His most recent, HBO Max's Born On 3rd Base, was named to Top Ten Best Comedy of 2023 lists in The New York Times, New York Magazine, and Decider. He is also an author of the 2023 memoir Misfit: Growing Up Awkward in the '80s.
In his latest show, Grandiloquent, Gulman explores how he used reading, writing, and humor as a child to cope with his parents' mistakes, and how those experiences led him to be most confident in rooms full of strangers laughing at him.
"Grandiloquent is the show I got into comedy to do,” Gulman said in a statement. “It’s the culmination of 48 years of my reading and writing and performing."
Tony Award nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel directs. The Grandiloquent creative team also includes scenic designer Beowulf Boritt, lighting designer Adam Honoré, and sound designer UptownWorks.
