Grey Henson joins 'Shucked' Broadway cast
The new musical has set its complete cast.
Perk up your ears! The new musical Shucked has completed its cast, with Tony Award nominee Grey Henson joining the production. The show begins performances at the Nederlander Theatre on March 8 ahead of an April 4 opening.
Henson is best known for his Tony-nominated performance as Damian Hubbard in the Mean Girls Broadway musical. In Shucked, he takes over the role of Storyteller #2 from Taylor Trensch, who appeared in the musical's world-premiere production in Salt Lake City, Utah and will now star in Camelot on Broadway.
The ensemble includes Jimmy Brewer, Audrey Cardwell, Dwayne Clark, Rheaume Crenshaw, Jaygee Macapugay, Scott Stangland, Yasmeen Sulieman, and Quinn VanAntwerp. Miki Abraham, Ken Clark, Traci Elaine Lee, and Alan Wiggins are swings.
Shucked is an original new musical comedy about a rural town whose corn crop begins to die. The farmgirl Maizy puts her wedding on hold and ventures out to find someone to help. The book is by Tony winner Robert Horn (Tootsie), and music and lyrics are by country songwriters Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. Five-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien (Hairspray) directs.
