Heléne Yorke, Michael Zegen to lead 'Strategic Love Play' off Broadway
The New York-premiere play by Succession writer Miriam Battye previously played to acclaim in London and Edinburgh, and it now runs for five weeks only.
Heléne Yorke and Michael Zegen will star in the New York premiere of Strategic Love Play, performing off Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre from November 1 to December 7 only. Opening night is November 10.
Yorke is best known for playing Brooke Dubeck on HBO's The Other Two and Jane Martin on Showtime's Masters of Sex. Her theatre credits include Bullets Over Broadway and American Psycho on Broadway and the national tour of Wicked.
Zegen is known for playing Joel Maisel on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and currently stars in the independent film Notice to Quit. He made his Broadway debut in A View From the Bridge and most recently appeared in the Broadway premiere of Alice Childress's Trouble in Mind.
In Strategic Love Play, Yorke and Zegen play two people who meet up after matching on an online dating site. The date is a mess, but something is keeping them both there, and the date soon takes an unexpected turn.
Strategic Love Play is written by Miriam Battye, a writer on the shows Succession and Beef, and directed by Katie Posner. The show arrives in New York following a sold-out run at the 2023 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a U.K. tour, and two sold-out runs at the Soho Theatre in London.
The NYC creative team also includes set designer Arnulfo Maldonado, lighting designer Jen Schriever, costume designer Dede Ayite, and sound designer Tei Blow.
The Off-Broadway production of Strategic Love Play is produced by Audible Theater, which will release the show as an audio drama worldwide following the New York run. Chase This Productions is a co-producer, and the show was commissioned and originally produced by Paines Plough, Soho Theatre, and Belgrade Theatre.
