'Here There Are Blueberries' sets Off-Broadway cast
Moisés Kaufman and Amanda Gronich's play, a co-production from New York Theatre Workshop and Tectonic Theater Project, will begin performances in April.
New York Theatre Workshop has set the full cast and creative team for its production of Here There Are Blueberries, playing off Broadway at the nonprofit company's downtown venue from April 17 to June 2. Opening night is May 13.
The Here There Are Blueberries cast includes Scott Barrow, Nemuna Ceesay, Kathleen Chalfant, Noah Keyishian, Jonathan Raviv, Erika Rose, Anna Shafer, Elizabeth Stahlmann, Charlie Thurston, and Grant Varjas. Barrow, Stahlmann, Thurston, and Vargas return from the show's world premiere in La Jolla, California, in 2022.
The creative team includes scenic designer Derek McLane, costume designer Dede Ayite, lighting designer David Lander, sound designer Bobby McElver, projection designer David Bengali, intimacy coordinator and sensitivity specialist Ann James, and associate director and dramaturg Amy Marie Seidel.
Based on true events, Here There Are Blueberries takes place in 2007, when the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum received an album of Nazi-era photographs. The show unravels the story behind the photographs as well as the widespread ethical and historical debates they ignited.
Here There Are Blueberries is a co-production with Tectonic Theater Project, a company known for shows like The Laramie Project and others that dramatize historical events and use actual, firsthand interviews as source material. The show is conceived and directed by Tectonic founder Moisés Kaufman and co-written by Kaufman and Amanda Gronich.
