'I Can Get It For You Wholesale' sets Off-Broadway casting
Classic Stage Company will revive the 1962 musical at the start of its 2023-24 season, with direction by Trip Cullman and a revised book by John Weidman.
UPDATE: Tony Award nominee Julia Lester has joined the I Can Get It For You Wholesale cast as Miss Marmelstein. The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star made her Broadway debut in 2022 as Little Red in Into the Woods. Joy Woods, Victor de Paula Rocha, and Darron Hayes complete the ensemble.
We've got casting for you! Classic Stage Company has set principal casting for its revival of the musical I Can Get It For You Wholesale, going up this fall at CSC's theatre on E 13th Street.
Joining the previously announced Santino Fontana as Harry Bogen and Judy Kuhn as Mrs. Bogen are Adam Chanler-Berat as Meyer Bushkin, Eddie Cooper as Tootsie Maltz and ensemble, Adam Grupper as Maurice Pulvermacher, Greg Hildreth as Teddy Asch, Rebecca Naomi Jones as Ruthie Rivkin, Sarah Steele as Blanche Bushkin, and Ryah Nixon as an ensemble member.
Additional casting has yet to be announced.
The creative team of I Can Get It For You Wholesale, led by director Trip Cullman, includes scenic designer Mark Wendland, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, lighting designer Adam Honoré, sound designer Sun Hee Kil, choreographer Ellenore Scott, score arranger and adapter David Chase, and music director and orchestrator Jacinth Greywoode.
I Can Get It For You Wholesale features music and lyrics by Harold Rome and a book by Jerome Weidman, with new book revisions made for this revival made by his son, John Weidman. The show follows Garment District worker Harry Bogen as he cheats, embezzles, and alienates his mother and girlfriend in his quest to get to the top.
The musical revival kicks off CSC's 2023-24 season, which also includes Shakespeare's Pericles and Alice Childress's Wine in the Wilderness.
