Jeremy Jordan to join the cast of Little Shop of Horrors at Westside Theatre
The Tony Award nominee will assume the role of Seymour in the hit Off-Broadway revival from March 17, 2020.
Suddenly, there'll be a new Seymour... On March 17, 2020 Tony Award nominee and Broadway favorite Jeremy Jordan will return to the New York stage to assume the role of Seymour in the smash hit Off-Broadway revival of the cult classic musical Little Shop of Horrors. He is scheduled to play a limited 8-week engagement at the Westside Theatre through May 10, with current cast member and Tony Award nominee Gideon Glick set for his final performance in the role on March 15.
Jeremy Jordan has previously starred on Broadway in the 2009 revival of West Side Story, Bonnie and Clyde, Disney's Newsies (earning a Tony nomination in 2012 and reprising his performance for the filmed version of the musical), American Son (also reprising his performance on Netflix), and Waitress. His most notable screen credits include "Smash" on NBC, "Supergirl" on The CW, and the movie musical "The Last 5 Years ."
Little Shop of Horrors began previews at the Westside Theatre on September 17, 2019, ahead of an official opening on October 17.
The principal cast of Little Shop of Horrors currently includes Tony Award nominee Gideon Glick (as Seymour), Emmy Award winner Tammy Blanchard (as Audrey), two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle (as Orin Scrivello D.D.S.), Tom Alan Robbins (as Mushnik), Kingsley Leggs (as The Voice of Audrey II), Ari Groover (as Ronnette), Salome Smith (as Crystal), and Joy Woods (as Chiffon).
Little Shop of Horrors, which first premiered Off-Broadway in 1982, features music by Alan Menken and a book & lyrics by Howard Ashman. This new production is directed by Michael Mayer and also features choreography by Ellenore Scott, music supervision, orchestrations & arrangements by Will Van Dyke, scenic design by Julian Crouch, lighting design by Bradley King, costume design by Tom Broecker, sound design by Jessica Paz, and puppet design by Nicholas Mahon.
Synopsis: "Seymour is a down-on-his-luck florist with a crush on his co-worker Audrey. When he discovers a mysterious - and voracious - plant, suddenly Seymour and Audrey are thrust into an epic battle that will determine the fate of the entire human race."
Little Shop of Horrors is produced Off-Broadway by Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens, Hunter Arnold, Mickey Liddell, Curt Cronin and John Joseph.
