Joanna Gleason, Jeanine Serralles to star in 'We Had a World' off Broadway
The world-premiere family drama by Tony Award-nominated Prayer for the French Republic playwright Joshua Harmon will begin performances this spring.
Manhattan Theatre Club has announced initial casting for its upcoming Off-Broadway production of We Had a World at New York City Center, beginning on February 25 and opening on March 19.
Tony Award winner Joanna Gleason (Into the Woods, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) and Drama Desk Award nominee Jeanine Serralles (Apples Never Fall, Inside Llewyn Davis) will star, and additional casting will be announced soon.
In We Had A World, a dying woman (Gleason) and asks her grandson to write a play about their family — and make it as bitter as possible. The result, by Tony Award-nominated Prayer for the French Republic playwright Joshua Harmon, captures decades of fights, cruelty, and love.
We Had A World is MTC’s first production at its Stage II space at New York City Center since before the pandemic shutdown took place in 2020.
