Liz Kingsman's 'One Woman Show' to play off Broadway this summer
This satirical solo show comes to the U.S. from a critically acclaimed run in London's West End, where it earned an Olivier Award nomination in 2023.
Kingsman is the queen! Australian actress and comedian Liz Kingsman will make her New York stage debut with One Woman Show, her critically acclaimed solo comedy show. Performances run from June 14 to August 11 at the Greenwich House Theater, with opening night on June 20.
Kingsman's One Woman Show is inspired by another one-woman show: Phoebe Waller-Bridge's smash hit Fleabag, which originated as a stage act before becoming a hit TV series. The show spawned a wave of other media about "messy women," which Kingsman spoofs in her comedy act.
One Woman Show comes to New York on the heels of a run in London's West End, where it was nominated for a 2023 Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. Kingsman has also performed the show in her native Australia — at the Sydney Opera House and Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne — at London's Soho Theatre, and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she earned an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination.
A four-star London Theatre review of the West End production reads, "Kingsman is a comedy superstar... It's a love letter to the likes of Dolly Alderton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and celebrates the sexy, aloof qualities in women while ripping up the rulebook."
Adam Brace directs One Woman Show. He's also represented this summer with Alex Edelman's Just For Us, the hit Off-Broadway comedy show playing a limited Broadway engagement from June 22.
