'Love Actually? The Unauthorized Musical Parody' to open off Broadway in November
The musical comes from the creators of The Office! A Musical Parody and Friends! The Musical Parody.
To us, it's perfect! Love Actually? The Unauthorized Musical Parody will return to the Jerry Orbach Theater at the Theater Center off Broadway in November. Preview performances will begin November 24 ahead of a November 30 opening. It is set to run for a limited engagement through January 2, 2022.
The production first played at the Jerry Orbach in late 2019, with direction by Tim Drucker, choreography by Brooke Engen, and music and orchestration by Basil Winterbottom. The theatre currently houses The Office! A Musical Parody, another spoof by Love Actually? creators Bob and Tobly McSmith, which has played there since 2018. The McSmiths also created Friends! The Musical Parody.
Like the original 2003 film starring Hugh Grant, Kiera Knightley, Emma Thompson, and Alan Rickman, Love Actually? follows nine couples in England looking for love. At some point, they all find themselves at Heathrow Airport. Their love stories are quirky, messy, occasionally happy, and occasionally not. The musical features parody songs including "Keira Knightly Actually," "A Joni Mitchell CD? (For Your Continued Emotional Education)," "The Lament of Laura Linney," and "The 11 O'Clock Grand Gesture Number."
Love Actually? The Unauthorized Musical Parody will also debut in Chicago later this year. Casting for both the Chicago and New York productions has yet to be announced.
Love Actually? The Unauthorized Musical Parody tickets will be available soon.
