Maya Hawke to make Off-Broadway debut in 'Eurydice'
The Stranger Things star will play the title role in Sarah Ruhl's play, which reexamines the character from Greek mythology, at Signature Theatre this spring.
Maya Hawke will make her Off-Broadway debut in Eurydice this spring, performing in the Greek mythology-inspired play at Signature Theatre from May 13 to June 22.
Hawke is best known for her breakout role as Robin Buckley in the Netflix TV show Stranger Things. She has also appeared in recent films including Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Do Revenge, Asteroid City, and Maestro, and voiced Anxiety in Pixar's Inside Out 2.
She will now play the title role in Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice. Traditional tellings of her myth center on the character's relationship with her lover, Orpheus, who tries to save her from the underworld when she gets trapped there. Ruhl's play, however, focuses on Eurydice's relationship with her father, whom she re-encounters in the underworld.
Les Waters directs, having also staged Eurydice's critically acclaimed New York-premiere production in 2007.
Additional cast and creative team members have yet to be announced.
