Michael Patrick Thornton joins Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter in 'Waiting for Godot' Broadway cast

Director Jamie Lloyd's revival of Samuel Beckett's classic play will have a strictly limited engagement at the Hudson Theatre beginning in September.

Michael Patrick Thornton will join the cast of Waiting for Godot on Broadway this fall, joining the previously announced Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Performances will run at the Hudson Theatre from September 13 to January 4 only, with opening night on September 28.

Thornton will play Lucky opposite Reeves as Estragon and Winter as Vladimir. Thornton was last seen on Broadway as Dr. Rank in A Doll's House starring Jessica Chastain, and he is also known for his role as Dr. Fife on the TV show Private Practice and for appearances on Madam Secretary and The Good Doctor.

Samuel Beckett's classic drama Waiting for Godot follows the discussions of two men as they await the arrival of the title character. Seen on Broadway four previous times, the play was hailed as the "greatest of 20th century plays" in The New York Times.

This revival reunites the lead actors of the Bill & Ted film franchise and is directed by Jamie Lloyd (Sunset Boulevard on Broadway). Complete casting and creative team have yet to be announced.
