Playwright/director Robert O'Hara's *Shit. Meet. Fan.* takes place at a party where a group of friends must read aloud every message they receive on their phones, leading to surprising revelations. The world-premiere play is adapted from the popular 2016 Italian film *Perfect Strangers*.

As previously announced, the creative team includes set designer Clint Ramos, costume designer Sarafina Bush, lighting designer Alex Jainchill, and sound designer Palmer Hefferan.

Robert O’Hara is a Lambda Literary Award nominee for *Bootycandy*, an Obie Award winner for *In the Continuum*, and a Tony Award nominee for directing *Slave Play* on Broadway. An acclaimed writer and director, Robert O’Hara is well-known to New York audiences thanks to his satirical writing on race relations in America and bawdy and spiky wit.

That humor is in full force in his newest play, coming off Broadway to MCC this fall for a limited run only. A world premiere, *Shit. Meet. Fan*. follows a friend group over a boozy night and throughout a volatile game: every text, every email, and every call must be shared aloud. 

A night for innocent fun and games is particularly pitched as the friends have gathered on the eclipse: souls will be bared and skeletons will come out of the closet as evening rolls in. But it’s all in the spirit of a good time with friends, right? Let the games begin.

- Robert O’Hara returns to MCC after directing there before, for *BLKS* by Aziza Barnes, which was a New York Times Critics Pick.
- MCC is known for its presentation of adventurous new plays and musicals. Located in Manhattan, the off-Broadway theatre is a popular incubator for new works and has featured celebs on stage, including Lucas Hedges in *Yen* and Greta Gerwig in *The Village Bike*.
- O’Hara began his career studying under famed director George C. Wolfe, who also has a big production this year: *[Gypsy](https://www.todaytix.com/nyc/shows/41161-gypsy-on-broadway)* starring Audra McDonald. 
- Critics enjoy O’Hara’s ability to blend genres and keep audiences on their toes. In its review of *Bootycandy*, The New York Times wrote that O’Hara’s writing is “as raw in its language and raucous in spirit as it is smart and provocative.”

Debra Lynn Messing&nbsp;was born on August 15, 1968 in Brooklyn, New York. She is an Emmy Award-winning actor best known for her TV role as Grace Adler on the hit NBC sitcom Will &amp; Grace.&nbsp;Theatre fans also remember her fondly as Julia Houston on NBC’s Broadway-centric musical series Smash.

After moving to Rhode Island, Messing attended East Greenwich High School and would later go on to study at Brandeis&nbsp;University in Waltham, Massachusetts, graduating in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in theatre arts. She would further her training with the grad acting program at New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, earning a master of fine arts after the completion of the three-year course.

Her early stage credits include several Off-Broadway appearances in the 1990s. She served as an understudy for the 1993 Manhattan Theatre Club production of Four Dogs and a Bone and went on to appear in WPA Theatre’s The Naked Truth in 1994 and Donald Margulies’ Collected Stories (again for Manhattan Theatre Club) in 1997. Messing would finally make her Broadway debut (courtesy of MTC) as Rosemary Muldoon in Outside Mullingar at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in January 2014.

Messing made her professional television debut as Dana Abandando in ABC’s NYPD Blue&nbsp;in 1994 and her feature film debut as Betty Sutton opposite Keanu Reeves in 1995’s A Walk in the Clouds.&nbsp;From 1995 to 1997, she would star as Stacey Colbert in Fox’s sitcom Ned &amp; Stacey&nbsp;and in 1998, she would appear as Dr. Sloan Parker on ABC’s sci-fi series Prey.

She shot to global superstardom later in 1998 after landing the role of Grace Adler in NBC’s smash hit sitcom Will &amp; Grace.&nbsp;During the first eight seasons (1998-2006), she earned six Golden Globe and five Emmy Award nominations for the role, winning an Emmy in 2003 for her efforts. She would reprise the beloved role for the return of Will &amp; Grace&nbsp;in 2017. When the show’s 11th and final season&nbsp;began in October 2019, she received her seventh Golden Globe nomination for the role.

Aside from Will &amp; Grace,&nbsp;Messing’s most notable screen credits include her Emmy and two-time Golden Globe-nominated role as Molly Kagan in USA Network’s The Starter Wife&nbsp;(2007-8), the role of playwright/lyricist Julia Houston in NBC’s Smash&nbsp;(2012-13), and the role of homicide detective Laura Diamond on the NBC comedy The Mysteries of Laura&nbsp;(2014-16). Other screen credits include Jesus&nbsp;(1999), The Mothman Prophecies&nbsp;(2002), Hollywood Ending&nbsp;(2002), Along Came Polly&nbsp;(2004), Garfield&nbsp;(2004), The Wedding Date&nbsp;(2005), Open Season&nbsp;(2006), Lucky You&nbsp;(2007), The Women&nbsp;(2008), Nothing Like the Holidays&nbsp;(2008), and Searching&nbsp;(2018).

Constance Wu is best known for her leading role as Rachel Chu in the film *Crazy Rich Asians*, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination, and as Jessica Huang in all six seasons of the sitcom *Fresh Off the Boat*, which was her breakthrough role. She received four nominations for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Jessica, tying with Julia Louis-Dreyfus for the most nominations for that award.

Her other best-known film credits include *Hustlers* (2019) and *Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile*. On stage, she starred in *2:22 A Ghost Story* in Los Angeles before making her Off-Broadway debut with *Little Shop of Horrors*.

Krakowski is a Tony Award winner for playing Carla Albanese in the 2003 revival of *Nine*. She was also nominated for her roles in *Grand Hotel* and *She Loves Me*, and she received an Olivier Award for starring in a *Guys and Dolls* revival in London's West End.

She is best known, however, for playing Jenna Maroney on *30 Rock*, for which she earned four Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She also earned an Emmy nomination for playing Jacqueline White in *Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt*, and she also played Elaine Vassal in *Ally McBeal*.

The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space - TodayTix

In late 2018, the Off-Broadway organization MCC Theater moved into its own permanent home. The complex is located in the Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan, at West 52nd Street and 10th Avenue, and consists of two theatre spaces. The Newman Mills Theater has a seating capacity of 245, and The Susan and Ronald Frankel Theater is a 100-seat black box-style theatre.

Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, and William Canter founded MCC, which stands for Manhattan Class Company, in 1986. The company produced workshops and full productions of new works in various rented spaces around the city before purchasing its current venue.

MCC Theater is closest to the 50th St. subway station on the C and E line; the theatre is located two blocks north and west. The closest bus stop, located across the street from the theatre, is 10 Av./West 53 St. on the M11 line.
