New musical 'Dead Outlaw' sets Off-Broadway cast
This world-premiere show from the award-winning team behind The Band's Visit on Broadway is based on the true story of 20th-century outlaw Elmer McCurdy.
Audible Theater has set the complete cast for Dead Outlaw off Broadway, the company's latest production at the Minetta Lane Theatre. The world-premiere production will play a limited engagement from February 28 to April 7, with opening night on March 10.
The Dead Outlaw cast includes Jeb Brown, Eddie Cooper, Andrew Durand, Dashiell Eaves, Julia Knitel, Ken Marks, Trent Saunders, and Thom Sesma. Emily Fink, Austin Ku, George Merrick, and Max Sangerman are understudies.
Dead Outlaw is created by composer/lyricists David Yazbek and Erik Della Penna, book writer Itamar Moses, and director David Cromer, the team (excepting Della Penna) behind the Tony Award-winning Best Musical The Band's Visit. Conceived by Yazbek, the musical dramatizes the true story of "Six Million-Dollar Man" Elmer McCurdy, a 20th-century outlaw whose turbulent and ambitious life became the subject of intrigue after his body was used as a sideshow attraction upon his death.
The Dead Outlaw creative team also includes movement director Ani Taj, music supervisor Dean Sharenow, scenic designer Arnulfo Maldonado, costume designer Sarah Laux, lighting designer Heather Gilbert, sound designers Kai Harada and Josh Millican, soundscape composer Isabella Curry, and music director Rebekah Bruce. Orchestrations are by Della Penna, Yazbek, and Dean Sharenow.
