'Othello' starring Denzel Washington, Jake Gyllenhaal sets additional casting
The latest Broadway revival of Shakespeare's tragedy, directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon, will play for 15 weeks only beginning in February 2025.
Additional casting has been announced for Othello on Broadway, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal. Performances run at the Barrymore Theatre from February 24 to June 8 only, with opening night on March 23.
Joining the previously announced Washington as Othello, Gyllenhaal as Iago, and Molly Osborne as Desdemona are Tony Award winner Andrew Burnap as Cassio, Anthony Michael Lopez as Roderigo, Daniel Pearce as Brabantio, and Kimber Elayne Sprawl as Emilia.
Additionally, the creative team includes scenic designer Derek McLane, costume designer Dede Ayite, lighting designer Natasha Katz, sound designer Justin Ellington, hair and wig designer Mia Neal, intimacy director Claire Warden, voice coach Dawn-Elin Fraser, and Shakespeare consultant James Shapiro.
Directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon, Shakespeare's tragedy follows successful war commander Othello, who, along with his wife, Desdemona, becomes the target of a plot by the jealous and manipulative Iago to destroy him.
