UPDATE: More casting and run dates have been set for the the Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night, with the article updated below.

The Public Theater has announced casting for its production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night set to run at Central Park's Delacorte Theater in summer 2025. The Free Shakespeare in the Park production will run from August 7 to September 14, officially opening on August 21.

The star-studded cast includes Peter Dinklage as Malvolio, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Andrew Aguecheek, Lupita Nyong’o as Viola, Sandra Oh as Olivia, b as Antonio, Bill Camp as Sir Toby Belch, Khris Davis as Orsino, Junior Nyong’o as Sebastian, Daphne Rubin-Vega as Maria, and Moses Sumney as Feste. (Real-life siblings Lupita and Junior Nyong'o will also play siblings in the production.)

Additional casting and creative team members have yet to be announced.

Twelfth Night follows shipwrecked twins Viola and Sebastian and their quest to reunite. In the meantime, Viola disguises herself as a man to enter the court of Duke Orsino, leading to mistaken identities, tangled webs of romance, and plenty of comedy.

"Twelfth Night is the epitome of joy,” director Saheem Ali said in a statement. “It also happens to be the first production I ever saw at the Delacorte, as a college student taking the Chinatown bus from Boston. I’m delighted to be reuniting with my dear friend Lupita Nyong’o, joined by fellow Public Theater alums Peter Dinklage, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Sandra Oh. Free Shakespeare in the Park is a gift to our city."

The play will be the first at the newly reopened Delacorte Theater, which has been closed this summer for renovations. As with all past Shakespeare in the Park productions, all tickets are free and distributed via various online and in-person lotteries.
