Robin Lord Taylor, Brandon Flynn to star in 'Kowalski' off Broadway
The New York-premiere play by Gregg Ostrin, running for one month only, imagines the meeting of playwright Tennessee Williams and actor Marlon Brando.
A new play titled Kowalski, written by Gregg Ostrin and directed by Colin Hanlon, will run from January 12 to February 16, 2025, at the Duke on 42nd Street. Opening night is January 27.
Kowalski unfolds over one night in a 1947 Provincetown beach house, where playwright Tennessee Williams is creating his future masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire. The play weaves this story with an exploration of the dynamics between Williams, actor Marlon Brando (who starred in Streetcar's 1951 film adaptation), director Margo Jones (who staged Williams's works early in his career), and Pancho Rodriguez, a supposed inspiration for Streetcar.
The production stars Robin Lord Taylor (Gotham, You) as Tennessee Williams and Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why) as Marlon Brando, with Alison Cimmet (Amelie) as Margo Jones, Ellie Ricker (Y2K) as Jo, and Sebastian Treviño (On Your Feet!) as Pancho Rodriguez.
The creative team includes costume designer Lisa Zinni, scenic designer David Gallo, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, sound designer Bill Toles, and movement specialist Nancy Renee Braun.
