Ryan McCartan to join 'The Great Gatsby' Broadway cast

The stage and screen actor will replace original cast member Jeremy Jordan in the title role of the musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel.

Hey, old sport! Ryan McCartan will join the cast of The Great Gatsby on Broadway this winter, playing his first performance at the Broadway Theatre on January 21.

McCartan is known for his New York stage roles as J.D. in Heathers, Fiyero in Wicked, and Hans in Frozen. On screen, his roles include Brad in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Diggie on Liv and Maddie.

In The Great Gatsby, McCartan will replace original cast member Jeremy Jordan, who plays his final performance on January 19, as Jay Gatsby. Continuing cast members include Eva Noblezada as Daisy, Noah J. Ricketts as Nick Carraway, Samantha Pauly as Jordan Baker, Sara Chase as Myrtle Wilson, John Zdrojeski as Tom Buchanan, Charlie Pollock as George Wilson, and Eric Anderson as Wolfsheim.

The first Broadway musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, The Great Gatsby follows mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby's obsessive quest to win back his former love, Daisy Buchanan, during the Roaring Twenties.

The show features music and lyrics by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen, a book by Kait Kerrigan, direction by Marc Bruni, and choreography by Dominique Kelley.
