'Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends' names additional cast joining Bernadette Peters, Lea Salonga

The Broadway revue, which premiered in London to acclaim last year, celebrates the musicals written by the late, award-winning songwriter Stephen Sondheim.

They're all friends here! Manhattan Theatre Club has announced additional casting for its production of Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends on Broadway, starring the previously announced Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga. The limited run begins performances at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on March 25, 2025, ahead of an April 8 opening.

The Old Friends Broadway cast will also include Jasmine Forsberg, Kate Jennings Grant, David Harris, Bonnie Langford, Tony Award winner Beth Leavel, two-time Tony Award nominee Gavin Lee, Ryan McCartan, Olivier Award nominee Jason Pennycooke, two-time Olivier Award winner Joanna Riding, Jeremy Secomb, Maria Wirries, and Daniel Yearwood.

Kevin Earley, Paige Faure, Alexa Lopez, and Peter Neureuther also join the company. One final cast member has yet to be announced.

Created by Cameron Mackintosh, Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends is a revue celebrating the songs of the late, great Stephen Sondheim. The composer/lyricist co-created musicals including West Side Story, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, and Sunday in the Park with George, and songs from these shows and more will be featured in this concert production.

Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends premiered to acclaim in London last year and will make its North American premiere in Los Angeles before heading to Broadway. The show is directed by Matthew Bourne with Julia McKenzie and choreographed by Stephen Mear.

Additionally, the show features music supervision by Alfonso Casado Trigo and Stephen Brooker, musical arrangements by Stephen Metcalfe, set design by Matt Kinley, projection design by George Reeve, costume design by Jill Parker, lighting design by Warren Letton, and sound design by Mick Potter. Annbritt duChateau conducts.

London Theatre's five-star Old Friends review reads, "A sense of community, not competition, is on full view throughout a glorious ensemble."
