'Stranger Things: The First Shadow' names additional Broadway cast
The play is inspired by the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, taking place 30 years earlier and featuring younger versions of fan-favorite characters.
Welcome to Hawkins! Stranger Things: The First Shadow has announced principal casting for its Broadway production at the Marquis Theatre. Performances begin March 28 ahead of an April 22 opening.
The Stranger Things: The First Shadow cast includes Rosie Benton as Virginia Creel, Alex Breaux as Dr. Brenner, Nicky Eldridge as Bob Newby, Andrew Hovelson as Principal Newby, Alison Jaye as Joyce Maldonado, Emmy Award nominee T.R. Knight as Victor Creel, Emmy nominee Gabrielle Nevaeh as Patty Newby, and Burke Swanson as James Hopper, Jr. joining the previously announced Louis McCartney as Henry Creel.
Set 30 years before the events of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, this stage play follows teenage versions of fan-favorite characters like Hopper, Joyce, and more, whose small-town life is turned upside down by the arrival of newcomer Henry Creel.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow features a script by Kate Trefry, based on an original story by Trefry, the Duffer Brothers (the creators of the TV show), and Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin co-direct.
The show also has set design by Miriam Buether; costume design by Brigitte Reiffenstuel; lighting design by Jon Clark; sound design by Paul Arditti; original music, orchestrations, arrangements, and supervision by D.J. Walde; illusions design and visual effects by Jamie Harrison and Chris Fisher; video design and visual effects by 59; choreography by Coral Messam; movement direction by Lynne Page; wigs, hair and makeup design by Campbell Young Associates; and technical direction by Gary Beestone for Gary Beestone Associates.
