'Tammy Faye' completes Broadway cast
Elton John and Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears penned the songs for this show, coming to New York following a London premiere, about the real-life televangelist.
Make a joyful noise! Tammy Faye on Broadway has completed its cast ahead of its New York-premiere run this fall. Performances start at the Palace Theatre on October 19 ahead of a November 14 opening.
As previously announced, Tammy Faye will star two-time Olivier Award winner Katie Brayben as Tammy Faye Bakker, two-time Tony winner Christian Borle as Jim Bakker, and two-time Tony winner Michael Cerveris as Jerry Falwell.
They will be joined by Autumn Hurlbert as the Tammy Faye Bakker alternate, Nick Bailey as Paul Crouch, Charl Brown as Steve Pieters, Mark Evans as Billy Graham, Allison Guinn as Jan Crouch, Ian Lassiter as Jimmy Swaggart/Ronald Reagan/Archbishop, Raymond J. Lee as John Fletcher, Max Gordon Moore as Thomas S. Monson/Marvin Gorman, Alana Pollard as Jessica Hahn, and Andy Taylor as Pat Robertson/Ted Turner.
The ensemble includes Amanda Clement, Michael Di Liberto, Jonathan Duvelson, Lily Kaufmann, Denis Lambert, Elliott Mattox, Brittany Nicholas, Keven Quillon, Aveena Sawyer, Allysa Shorte, TJ Tapp, Daniel Torres, and Dana Wilton.
Tammy Faye is a musical retelling of the life of Tammy Faye Bakker, who, with her husband Jim Bakker, became the face of a new movement that put the fun in faith. However, they ran afoul of traditional Christian groups in the process while also dealing with scandal.
The show features music by Elton John, lyrics by Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, a book by James Graham, choreography by Lynne Page, and direction by Rupert Goold.
Tammy Faye also has scenic design by Bunny Christie, costume design by Katrina Lindsay, lighting design by Neil Austin, video design by Finn Ross, sound design by Nick Lidster for Autograph, orchestrations by Mark Dickman and Tom Deering, and music supervision, arrangements, and additional music by Deering. The production stage manager is Tim Semon.
