Taylor Schilling to star in 'The Apiary' off Broadway; complete cast set
Second Stage Theater will present the world premiere of this new play by Kate Douglas, which plays at the Tony Kiser Theater for one month beginning in January.
UPDATE, February 27: Two-time Tony Award nominee Kara Young joins the cast of The Apiary from February 28 to March 3. She replaces April Matthis, who is departing the show due to a scheduling conflict.
UPDATE, December 18: Nimene Wureh has joined the cast of The Apiary. She replaces the previously announced Gabby Beans, who has departed due to a scheduling conflict.
We're abuzz about this cast! Second Stage Theater has set the complete cast for its production of The Apiary, off Broadway at the Tony Kiser Theater. The world-premiere production will run from January 31 to February 25, 2024, with opening night on February 13.
The complete cast includes Tony Award nominee Gabby Beans (The Skin of Our Teeth), Obie Award winner April Matthis (The Piano Lesson, Toni Stone), Lucille Lortel Award nominee Carmen M. Herlihy (Bachelorette), and Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe award nominee Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black).
Written by Kate Douglas and directed by Kate Whoriskey, The Apiary takes place 22 years in the future, centering on two lab assistants seeking volunteers for a world-changing plan. The show is part of Second Stage's inaugural Next Stage Festival for early-career playwrights and new works.
