'Trouble in Mind' announces full Broadway cast
The show will begin performances October 29 at the American Airlines Theatre.
Trouble in Mind has announced the full cast for the Broadway premiere of Alice Childress's play. The newly announced cast members will join the previously confirmed Tony and Emmy Award winner LaChanze, who will star in the lead role of Wiletta.
Joining LaChanze are Michael Zegen as Al Manners, Chuck Cooper as Sheldon Forrester, Danielle Campbell as Judy Sears, Jessica Frances Dukes as Millie Davis, Brandon Micheal Hall as John Nevins, Simon Jones as Henry, Alex Mickiewicz as Eddie Fenton, and Don Stephenson as Bill O'Wray.
Childress's play follows a veteran Black stage actress who is cast in a big-budget production with a white leadership and creative team. The play peeks behind the curtain of rehearsals and sees Wiletta struggling between getting her big break and compromising her beliefs to do it. Trouble in Mind was originally set to premiere on Broadway in 1957, but the production fell through.
Charles Randolph-Wright directs the upcoming production at Roundabout Theatre Company's American Airlines Theatre. It will begin performances October 29 ahead of a November 10 opening, and play a limited engagement through January 9, 2022.
Trouble in Mind tickets are on sale now.
