'Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992' announces Off-Broadway casting
The show begins performances at The Pershing Square Signature Center October 12.
Casting has been announced for the Signature Theatre production of Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992. Tiffany Rachelle Stewart, Karl Kenzler, Lucille Lortel Award winner Francis Jue, Wesley T. Jones, and Elena Hurst will star in the ensemble production of Anna Deavere Smith's work.
The show follows the unrest in Los Angeles after the LAPD police officers who beat Rodney King, a young Black man, in 1991 were acquitted the following year. Smith interviewed over 350 residents of Los Angeles in the aftermath to create Twilight, and the ensemble cast performs these real-life accounts as a cohesive portrait of the city going through racial anguish.
Taibi Magar directs the Signature production at The Pershing Square Signature Center, which begins performances October 12 ahead of a November 1 opening night. The creative team also includes scenic designer Riccardo Hernández, costume designer Linda Cho, lighting designer Alan C. Edwards, sound designer Darron L West, and projection designer David Bengali.
Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 tickets will be on sale soon.
