‘The Phantom of the Opera’ announces full Broadway reopening cast
The musical resumes performances at the Majestic Theatre October 22.
They'll be singing the music of the night! The full reopening cast of The Phantom of the Opera has been announced, with multiple actors performing in the show as of March 2020 returning to their roles.
Returning principal cast members include Ben Crawford as The Phantom, Meghan Picerno as Christine Daaé, John Riddle as Raoul, Bradley Dean as Monsieur André, Craig Bennett as Monsieur Firmin, Raquel Suarez Groen as Carlotta Giudicelli, Maree Johnson as Madame Giry, and Carlton Moe as Ubaldo Piangi.
New cast members include Sara Esty, assuming the role of Meg Giry, and Emilie Kouatchou, who will make her Broadway debut in The Phantom of the Opera. She will play Christine Daaé at certain performances. Her casting makes her the first Black actor to play the role of Christine in the Phantom of the Opera Broadway production.
All ensemble members are returning, including Giselle Alvarez, Polly Baird, Janinah Burnett, Xiaoxiao Cao, David Michael Garry, Chris Georgetti, Kelly Jeanne Grant, Katharine Heaton, Satomi Hofmann, Ted Keegan, Kfir, Kelly Loughran, Scott Mikita, Greg Mills, Justin Peck, Patricia Phillips, Richard Poole, Jessica Radetsky, Janet Saia, Paul A. Schaefer, Carly Blake Sebouhian, Jeremy Stolle, Carrington Vilmont, Jim Weitzer, Elizabeth Welch and Erica Wong.
The Phantom of the Opera follows the tumultuous romance between an opera singer and the mysterious man who lives in the opera house's shadows. Having played the Majestic Theatre since 1998, it is now the longest-running Broadway show of all time. The Phantom of the Opera resumes performances October 22.
